The Lore of a Life Story / Wandering Worlds
With Rios de la Luz
Rios de la Luz is the author of the novella, Itzá (Broken River Books), and the short story collections, The Pulse between Dimensions and the Desert (Ladybox Books), and An Altar of Stories to Liminal Saints (Broken River Books). Rios is a queer bruja who loves to write surreal stories involving matriarchal families, rebellious women, and the sweet heartaches of being a parent. Her generative writing workshops focus on writing about magic, the body, and the weird.

Class Description
This generative writing workshop will primarily focus on creative nonfiction to create mythos based on your lived experiences. Prompts will focus on writing from body memories and exploring liminal spaces that sit in the portals of your imagination. We will build from there.

This generative workshop is fast paced and fun, meaning we will take anywhere from 7 minutes to 15 minutes with multiple prompts, together, in a space where you are encouraged to get weird, colorful, cryptic, chaotic with your sentence structure and stories. There will be space to share your words with other writers and get brief live feedback. A portion of the class will focus on character building and then interweaving who they are with who you are/have been/will be.

This workshop is open to all levels of writers, poets, and storytellers. We will be writing together in an encouraging and creative space. Let’s get weird!
